Great find on Craigslist again!!! Got a Singer 29-4 in Missoula, Mt Saturday for $200..Was just serviced and ready to go..Also got the books, several needles and (2) 1/2 lb. spools of #69 thread with it..It should compliment my Atisan 797 quit well..

In my 2008 TandyLeathercraft catalog, they are showing the Stitchbastard for $1595, available Nov. 2007..Of course the lead time for printing catalogs is several months and anyhing can happen..

Same here, Steve helped me greatly with the 797 I just got, and said when I was ready to do the mod for heavier leather to just call him and he'd walk me through it...Wouldn't it be great if all companies had that kind of customer support..

Yer right Art, I had my son-in-law with me and we took the head off of the base to make it easier to load into the trailer..Got the manual from Campbell-Bosworth quickly, now just gotta make room for the machines..My love of old iron goes a little bit further..I've got a 1937 RD4 Cat in my back yard, 49 Chev 4400, 51 GMC 350 dump, 54 Chev 3800, 47 Dodge 4x4...

I found a nice 4pc set in my Lee Valley catalog..They are called Texturing Punches, Cat. # 50K53.01 $24.95 They are 3" long, high carbon steel..I used them on a map case that I just finished and am quite pleased.. Geoff

Another thought is to get a mortising chisel for wood and remove the drill bit..makes nice square holes..I got a cheap set from Harbor Freight to try and work quite well..a friend of mine was using a corner chisel, but you have to hit it twice and if you're not perfectly square it's a little tough to repair.. Geoff

I use the rouge also, but got a nice set of ceramic stones, 200,400,600,800 in round, flat and square from Garrett Wade about 6 months ago..these are about 4-5' long and work quite well.. geoff

If you go to the granite/marble countertop shops, you can usually get their scraps for free as they have to pay to dump them...I've gotten several pieces this way..aA couple for leatherwork and several for the front door entry of my house, looks great and a lot cheaper than tile... Yep, steel is getting downright pricey..I've got a couple of pieces or railroaod rail that I got free from Burlington RR when they were replacing track..1 piece I made into an anvil with my hot wrench, the other I just cleaned up the ends with a grinder..both work great for rivets..and yesterday the local machine shop gave me their foot operated riveter as they use an air one now... Thanks, Campbell has the manual for my Champion wide throat..Nope, didn't stop fast..compact snow/ice for most of the trip over the mountain to get it.. Folks I got it from thought it would make a good mailbox stand...nuts... Geoff
