  1. The thickness is 2-3oz, about 1mm. It's the original thickness.
  2. White and purple follow up. The color of purple is not right in the picture. It's actually dark purple. Please refer to the very first picture in this thread to see the right color. Thank you.
  3. these leather are used by Hermes. They are from the French company who serves Hermes. Absolutely beautiful and you will notice the difference when you see them. Form head to the butt, you can notice there is a pattern of grain which is exactly what appears on Hermes kelly bag. I can't explain it very well, but if you search chevre leather I am sure some Hermes fan has explained it very well. $25 per square feet for the full grain one( which is the same as chevre de coromandel) and $20 for the refined one(which is chevre Mysore) average of per hide is 5 square feet. I sell by full hide and half hide. I will split by the waist because the back of the leather has the pattern. I will take preorder if you want a particular color that is not listed. Or if you want to have more quantities Shipping included for continental USA. I have 4 hides of each color for white and purple which is chevre Mysore . 1 hide for all other color and they are chevre de coromandel. All colors are shown in the first picture. I prefer using etsy(which is like eBay but only sell craft items, accept PayPal ) to complete the transaction. Or eBay but the buyer need to pay 5% fee.
  4. So I want to buy and sell some Lin cable. The price for 432 and 532 will be $30 shipped if there are 10 spools for the same color and size. And for 532 and 632 it will be $40. For 832 it will be $50. Is there anybody interested? Please reply with in this thread with the color and size you want, and I can figure out which color and size I will buy. This thread is sufficient until March 15th. Then I will orderliness cable and have them shipped to me.
  5. So @cmdachong decided to sell on his own, if anyone is interested, you can just go ahead and contact him through his email, snowlets@sina.com . Thank you guys for the interest though, I did want to establish a small business with him. I am looking for other high end tools for good price.
  6. You can just contact him for the price and such.
  7. I really like this veg tanned leather by Montana tannery in Italy but I only find retailers in Japan. What's the name of this pattern by the way? Thanks!
  8. Hi Nigel, I watched all your videos on youtube! The irons are made of dc53 tool steel and yes there is hardening, hrc is 62(or so, if you want exact number I will ask), which is very hard and will not bent. I can send you a set to test out if you are kind enough to make a video for the beautiful tools! I don't want to officially sell them before a review because many people don't understand the deiiference between a good one and a cheap one. I am afraid they received it and think it's a cheap Chinese iron that I sell for high price. But Chinese workers who I know own this and blanchard at the same time use this pricking iron as their daily driver. It's beautiful and functional.
  9. You can just talk to me, I am his partner in USA. He doesn't know much English and it's always me helping him answering all questions in english...
  10. Hi thanks for your attention! These tools are famous in China but I have not lay a hand on them. I just ordered some to try out to make sure they are really great before offially selling them, I want to be responsible. But if you do want any of them just let me know! I have a shipment that will arrive around the middle of APRIL, this will be the very first shipment. Also I will sell the ruler in the pictures that are great for cut or mark a round edge. Translucent plastic is $8 and metal for 20 without shipping. I will use first class mail to ship so shipping will be about $2. Let me know if you are interested and which one do you like. Thanks!
  11. Yes, translucent plastic for 8 and metal one for 20, if you buy the pricking iron. Dimensions are in cm. I attached pictures.
  12. But you shouldn't worry about the difference. I used Blanchard 8 tpi and Chinese 3.85mm and I can't tell a difference. I make a mark with Blanchard and check the mark with 3.85mm, they match. But I feel I have to tell you this info, just to be responsible.
  13. I have to tell you first it's exactly 3mm between each teeth, this may be a slightly different from 9tpi because Chinese use cm not inch. Cmdachong told me he makes 2+7 teeth for 3mm and it's 90 shipped.
  14. Hello I'm from China and I knew there are a bunch of Chinese craftsman that makes high end tools for a very good piece. Their quality are absolutely terrific as examed by many leatherworkers in China that used rons tools, vergez Blanchard or many other branded or nonbranded great tools. You know, Chinese are willing to spend ton of money to try everything out if they are interested in it. I know this guy whose id is cmdachong on Instagram, he makes the best edgers in China. He was the first one in China that makes leather goods and then started making high end leather tools. For example, he used Ron 's and Douglas and learned from them and took many many suggestions to improve his edgers. And for other tools he also own a lot of branded ones. He hand polished every tool he made and they all use very good steel and wood or you can choose what you want. For example, you can choose tool steel or m390 for his French style beveler. The edger and beveler are $40 and they are a work of beauty. My Instagram I'd is RenLeather and I post several images of pricking irons, feel free to go ahead and check that out as you will definitely shocked by the quality.$100 for a set of irons usually. I'm sharing the information here and I want to know if anybody is interested in any of these tools. I don't see many tool maker in usa and if do they usually charge very high price(for a international student like me at least) if anyone is interested please let me know cause I'm considering be a reseller of these tools. Thanks in advance!
  15. Because he is trying to make the pricking iron more precise and reducing the cost now he is using machine to shape the pricking iron out, but he hand polishes them by himself. He used to shape the pricking iron by hand but it took too much time and it could be not so precise between each teeth. The price would be around $100, but if you said 9 stitches per inch it would be 3mm between teeth (like a Blanchard 9tpi) and it took longer for him to finish and the price might be a bit higher.
  16. I'm Sorry I'm a bit confused. Almost all of them are polished. 10# 3.00mm http://tb.cn/OrqAIEy this is made by cmdachong on Instagram. The price is not correct. If you want to see more expensive ones or diamond shaped ones, let me know.
  17. So exciting to see somebody in the same city!
  18. The teeth from Blanchard and Chinese one. One is $230, other is $100. This is why I did not like my Blanchard, I was disappointed when I got it. But I understand Blanchard has to pay more to worker. And they have a big brand. But if I knew this, I would not buy. I want a good tool, not a branded tool that does okay.
  19. With a Chinese worker, you can discuss the steel they use. You can use any kind of steel as you want as long as they can get it. For professional iron, they machine shape first to be very precise and then hand polished or what you called tweak. I tried to polish my formal iron but it took so so so much effort and I can't do it very good. Chinese now make low end and high end pricking iron from different workers and the quality and price are very different. You can get a pair of $10 or $100 or $300. At least ten Chinese workers are making very good irons and they are very well known among Chinese leather workers. I know there are also very good Japanese and Korean workers out there. I didn't see anyone in USA make these tools and I just want to share this info to more people to let them know there are choice other than Blanchard.
  20. Just fyi, Alibaba is usually for wholesale. I know one worker has Instagram , his id is cmdachong, others only have taobao, but you can go to my Instagram and have a look at the teeth and performance, if you are interested I can help get you one. They are are all hand polished so still cost around $100. My Instagram id is RenLeather.
  21. the tool maker has instgram. His id is cmdachong. He doesn't speak very good English though. I intended to be his reseller here. He sell a set of pricking iron that has 2 5 and 10 teeth for $100, do you think that's okay? He hand polished every teeth.
  22. that is so close to me!
  23. there are a few on taobao.com I post some pic on Instagram, the good ones are mainly pricking iron or edger. My Instagram is RenLeather
  24. I did leather for one year in China and now I'm a international college student here in US. I like to do detailed work (like Hermes)and I love hand stitching leather. I do not carve leather. I am doing vegtan now but will be doing some chrome tan in the future. I hope I can find some people who has similar interest here! My Instagram is RenLeather by the way!
  25. I used Blanchard, disappointed. I love the high end Chinese pricking iron now. They are hand polished and punch through thick leather easily and have beautiful line. It's the only thing I need to make a hole for stitching, nothing else. But for box stitching I still use awl.
