Hey guys, I apologize if this has been answered recently (I tried to search for the topic but couldnt find it). How do you go about sharpening/ stropping a trim knife? I have the Stohlman one with the curved blade, its not real obvious to me how I should do that. Thanks! -Nate

I know this post is from several weeks ago, but I had to say that I really enjoy this piece. Great Work!

Thats what I thought, Thanks everyone, I'm gonna get a head knife and an x-acto knife for trimming, I think they will solve my problem!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I am full of questions so I will probably be posting often. I look forward to reading through all the previous posts in the "how to" section!

Hi everyone! How do you go about cutting out a piece from say 10 oz leather? For example, a curved pattern that you need to cut out several identical pieces? I only have a utility knife right now but have a hard time with sharp curves. I imagine a smaller, x-acto type knife might work best? Also, does the leather need to be cased before cutting pieces out of it? Thanks! Nate

I just wanted to say hello to everyone! I just started working with leather a month or two ago but have admired it since I can remember. There is nothing quite like a nice piece of hand-carved leather! Attached is my first "from-scratch" piece, its a sheath for my hatchet. Up to this point, I have only worked with pre-cut kits, etc. I am quite addicted though! Regards Nathan
