  2. Hi Guys, Looking for a supplier of nylon western stirrups. I want to add the hoods and the treads etc and make a nice pair of hooded stirrups out of them. Want to do this for a friends western saddle. Need 3" at the top. Thanks, Terry All the suppliers i see already have them covered in leather or rawhide etc and I am looking for them raw. T
  3. Yes, that is the one. I have a compressor. i think i will buy it just to see if i get the bug. $5.99 and can pick it up at the store on the way home...Thanks everyone. Maybe if i really like airbrushing a better one will be in the works later. T
  4. Hi everyone, the above Airbrush at harbor freight is normally $7.99 and on sale or has a coupon for 25% off. Will this work for airbrushing leather. Is this a good starter or stay away? Thanks, Terry
  5. in my opinion the white thread looks fine. Terry
  6. Hi Barra, No specific authenticity needed. I have seen some of saddlebag purses etc and some saddle bags made by others and thought i could make a nice 8x9" saddlebag. Thanks Terry
  7. Hi everyone, I have made a few things for my trooper saddles and now would like to make a single saddlebag with a snap to snap it to a ring on my saddle. I have a rough pattern and want an approx 3 " gussett. I cant get my mind wrapped around how i get the leather to align to the front and back to sew it. Does that make sense? Also do i glue it first like my other projects i sew. I planned to cut out the front and back and the flap and the gussett. prick the holes in the front and back and glue the gusset in place (maybe wet it?) then push the holes all the way through and saddle stich. Then stitch on the flap, then stich the snap. Any advice would be great. Thanks, Terry
  8. How did you do the coloring. I have a stamped belt that i have on my bench. I am new and am a little afraid of messing it up. Your spur straps look awesome. Thanks Terry
  9. Hi everyone, My girlfriend has a clean used McCall that fits her horses nicely. Anyone know how to decipher the code? The number on the back is 058294. I am trying to find out the information on the saddle and what it is worth. Is there anyplace that may be good to sell it. I wanted to rework the seat, but someone on the board thought is might be better to sell it and buy a different saddle. I will try to post pics if that will help. Thanks, Terry
  10. Thanks GrumpyGuy, I was getting the impression that was going to be the answer. Thanks for the info on the Mccall being pretty popular. I have worked on Canadian Trooper saddles and have gotten pretty good at reworking them and making them more comfortable for the rider, but western saddles are a whole different world. Terry
  11. Hi everyone, I am messing with the girlfriends McCall saddle. I really hurts her and my sitbones to ride it. I have pulled the screws and saddle strings off. I want to pull off the cheyenne roll, can i just cut out the thread and hand sew it later. Also the seat is glued down. is there a certain way i can remove it without doing much damage? The plan is to reshape the seat and put it all together. Any advice would be very appreciated. Thanks, Terry
