Hello All,
I am a mother, homemaker, and office admin in the western part of Arizona.
I received old leather working tools from my grandfather. He had previously loaned them to my aunt who after doing 1 small purse decided she didn't like it. He gave them to me and I was thrilled. They were purchased in and around the 1950s. My maul is an old rawhide one. I started out with bracelets making two for a cancer organization auction. They had a simple RIDE ON. lettering with leaves and flowers boarders. My next was a pair of knife sheaths for my mechanic. (attached are the photos of them). I have also shocked my sweetheart when I told him get me hides to tan. I have tanned rabbit, fox, and hopefully my first coyote next winter as well as elk. I enjoy learning and perfecting leather work techniques, and tanning hides.
I love to hunt, fish, horseback ride, train horses, play with our son, make everything a family activity. I am hoping to get more leather work off the ground to not only supplement income but for the love of creating a one of a kind item.
I named the business Desert Country Leather, and hope to have my LLC with in the next year. Glad to find a community where I can learn new things and get critiques on my work!
