Brass Cartridges Turning Green
Alfa34 replied to x101airborne's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I have hundreds of brass casings . Fired and not. Never had tarnish issues. It could be chemicals in leather, leather drawing moisture etc. I wouldnt want to fire rounds that have had corrosion on them and cleaned multiple times. Remove them from belt at end of day. -

All great advice. I will finish my edges better so the Groover has a better edge to work from. Thanks all.

I have determined that the tool does need to be sharpened, is there a page here that discusses that? Also part of the problem is that my edges are never consistent do to poor quality knife have been using standard utility knife blades that never cut. Must go over cut multiple times which leaves the edge wondering about .

Having some difficulty with the stitching Groover. I am using the one from Tandy. Seems to not follow very well on corners and curves. What technique is most popular? thought that I might use the wing dividers to mark and the free hand with Grover. It has more or less ruined what would have been decent projects several times.

Newbie here, I have been reading and following all the topics and have learned so much from this site. I am a little confused on casing or wetting of the leather. I understand that everyone has a technique that works for them. I have notice how my stamping looks at varied times in the drying process. My question is: do I only soak the leather and wait for the right time to carve only, and for stamping I should just sponge or spray water on top surface? Or are both done after soaking? Again thanks for all the valuable info here, I have made a few knife sheathes and a holster. Each one gets better , my stitching was a mess. But has improved due to this site. Wanting to start on some stamping carving to take it up a notch. Will post a pic when something is worthy.
