About Me
why a mended bowl?
no, it's not about drugs...or a busted toilet...
it's about life.
edgar allen poe wrote about the death of his love lenore..."broken is the golden bowl, the spirit flown forever"
he got this idea of the bowl symbolizing life from ecclesiastes 12:6 "or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken..."
my mended bowl symbolizes a life that was broken...both physically and spiritually.
but as you can see from the picture...someone took the time to put the pieces back together.
scars and cracks are still visible, and a few small pieces were lost forever...
the bowl doesn't look as nice as before...but it's still useful...it still has a purpose.
one thing i've learned about bowls...
if you fill them up with something, and then bump the bowl...
whatever is inside will spill out over the edge.
we can fill our lives with anger, greed, and hate, or we can fill our lives with love.
you can tell what a person has inside when they're bumped by life's troubles...
because that's what comes spilling out.
