  3. OK Jeff it is. Actually they are in your gallery and it was the wallets. Its the one with the eagle and the one next to in on the right. Its funny I was looking at your patterns the other day because a search for the Smith and Wesson Compact came up with you but it said the pattern wasnt available yet.
  4. Thanks for the response. I may finish the deer one but i am really looking for something to use on my first holster. Nice work by the way!!!
  5. JL your 2nd row 2nd and 3rd on in is what im looking for for my first holster. How would i achieve that?
  6. If you carve your lettering I would like to see it. I am new and dont care for the letter stamps. Figured I would use my computer FONTS to create my lettering and just carve it.
  7. BASIC!! I am heading to this shop Friday https://www.mainelineleather.com/ I will be making my first holster and maybe a knife sheath out of 7-8 oz shoulder. I will use the 2 needle (saddle stitch?) Which needles and which thread and do i need beeswax? I know i may be able to save a few bucks buying from here or there on line but would like to stick to this store for this trip so I can have someone in front of me and I can see what i am getting. When I know more of what im doing ill shop around online. Thanks for any help.
  8. OK wading through the information there appears to be a 1000 ways to finish a project. I have not attempted to finish anything yet concentrating on my tooling. I would like to move to the finishing process and am looking for something really basic. From what i can tell it looks as if I need to apply a sealer as a first coat then antiquing paste then a sealer as a last coat. Maybe some brown stain in my back grounding. I will be going to the leather shop next friday https://www.mainelineleather.com/ and would like a list of what to get for the above. stain, sealer, antiquing, sealer. KISS method please...lol. Thanks for any help
  9. Thanks NV sounds like a plan!!!!
  10. My brother wants his bar stools covered. Basically they are 11x 18 flat. He just wants some tooled flat pieces he will tack down to them. They seem like a good basic project for a newbee. Can I expect much shrinkage? Not a lot of tooling just some oak leaves and some wildlife in the center with a border so I'm not sure how much it may expand either. I guess what I'm asking is should I cut them with a little extra then when it's all done cut to size? Thanks for any help.
  11. NICE!! I havent tried letters yet. Still working on scrolls and such but it looks good to this newbee
  12. Older thread but I just started and live near Belfast. Looks like 2-3 people here from Maine. Where is everyone?
  13. Thanks Bigfoot!! I guess I'm not sure. It was off a double shoulder that I got from Tandy when I went down there and I had asked for a practice piece.
  14. Thanks alpha, I have other things I have to get before I can make anything I can use so for now I will be practicing from my Stolhman books I have received.
  15. Thanks Grey. Back grounders areally on order and should be here todat for future projects!!
  16. Savoy you holsters have come a long way. I have been watching them on Face Book the last year or so and you make some damn nice ones. It was you that actually inspired me to dig out my fathers tools from the attic and start learning how to tool. I have only been at it a few weeks and my goal is to attempt my own holster and gun case along with knife sheaths. Keep up the good work and congratulations on your success. I hear people talk about your stuff quite a bit now.
  17. HAHAH...did you google the miles??
  18. I did a search for Mainers but it looks like there are very few. I am near Belfast if this gets to any of them.
  19. Nice! I use photo bucket for forums. seems to do a much better job then attachments. If there is a way to post pics like facebook does that would be awsome.
