  1. Hi, Really nice to hear from a fellow indian with similar hobbies. I would be interested in the stuff you have seen around Dharavi. I am also looking for Veg tan leather in heavier sizes 6-8 oz. Also fittings like clasps/ buckles/ studs etc. I am based in Pune. regards Cavalier
  2. I too followed the tips in this tutorial & made a head knife from a hacksaw blade. I was careful while shaping to avoid overheating the blade & losing its temper. It has come out well & is quite hard & cuts well.
  3. I live in India & it is pretty difficult to procure quality tools. So I decided to go ahead & make a Head Knife from some metal scraps in my DIY workshop. I used a piece of high carbon hacksaw blade & some leftover teak wood to create this head knife. Did a bit of pyrography to jazz it up. Its a bit rough but cuts leather well.
  4. Thanks for the guidance. Much obliged
  5. This is my first project & I am a beginner. The design which I had stamped after dampening the leather has become pretty faint. The imprints were pretty deep initially. Am I doing something wrong ?? This is vegetable tanned goatskin leather
  6. Hi, I am also based in India , Pune. In every Indian city you will find an area that deals with stuff used by cobblers & shoe /chappal makers. This area will supply you with most basic stuff. In Mumbai, near Sion railway station there is a big leather goods manufacturing area . You can get most of the stuff from there. However, you will not get a fraction of the stuff available with shops like Tandy's. Best option is to import it from the US or ask some friend to bring it along.
