  1. Hello peeps, Saturday i picked up a old Singer 128. Well from what I see it is a model year 1924 by serial number. Portable unit and the wood case is in great shape. My question for all you gurus is what to clean it with? Something that won't hurt the finish on machine. The mechanical underside is can use solved on. The black finish and all the gold is what I'm worried about. It is not bad just has years of built up material fuzz, oil and dirt. Lady said it was her grandmother's. Got a real good deal on it. No plans for leather sewing, maybe some light weight soft leather. Have always wanted one and been watching this one for awhile. Had a not going to sell price for awhile. Finally they came down to reality. So figured I'd ask here for something to clean it with and not hurt the finish. Thanks for the help.
  2. Well mission accomplished. Had a few health issues. Heart attack tried taking me out but still kicking. Have been done for awhile and did achieve my goals. Can get my bad foot in now without a lot of trouble or pain. I put the zippers in the back, makes it easier for me to slip my foot in. I do appreciate all the help. Used the YKK zippers glued and sewn in by hand. Was actually pretty easy job. I was a little nervous ok alot nervous. Cutting in to a pair of expensive boots is nerve wrecking. My feet have a lot of nerve damage pain and neuropathy. On top of the drop foot. Will try posting a Pic for anyone who may be looking for help. I cut about 1/2 in wide seam basically the stich line. Everything else i cut and pulled out the thread. Then hand sewing everything back. Take your time and let the glue set up.
  3. Yes it can be miserable, my foot just bobbles around like a bobble head trying to get boot on. Going with YKK antique brass I think. Well as soon as I can find the length I want. Thanks again.
  4. Thanks everyone you are a big help! Love my boots but just can't wear pull on anymore. Nerve damage is a B*^$h.
  5. Hello everyone, I need to put approximately 8 inch heavy duty zipper in a pair of 11 inch pull on boots. They are Thorogood leather boots. I have drop foot and other nerve damage so my ankle is like a universal joint and no strength/movement. So I'm thinking YKK but need help with which one to get. Looking at web sites and so many YKk zippers I'm lost. Need some help for a pair of heavy duty 8 inch zippers I can sew by hand hopefully. My machine won't do it. If I can't do by hand then guess I will send to someone. I know someone here has done this any help or suggestions is appreciated.

    Ammo pouch

Very nice, clean look excellent job. Now as a hunter I give you even more props. That is perfect, can put shells in and drop in pocket. No rattle or clinking sounds or ammo spilled in pocket.
  8. I have been driving myself crazy reading and studying. Trying to find a machine that would fit my budget and do what I needed. I almost screwed up and bought something under powered or really couldn't do what I wanted I should say. It was close but no cigar. So I called Bob at Toledo Industrial sewing machines. A because he supports this forum and answers alot of questions. B because Wizcrafts always recommends him. Thanks to everyone I asked I ordered and hope to receive soon a Cowboy 1541s. Will do everything I want and more. Can't wait for it to get here. Never sewn leather on a machine before. So I'm still a green horn newbie anyway but I like a challenge. Pic is from Bob's site.
  9. Few wallets I did for customers.
  10. Did 2 1911 holsters for Christmas.
  11. Some leather goods I did for Christmas. Turned out nice, check book pic kind of distorted from the resizing. Can't really see the details in rifle sling but you all get the pic. Pun intended. Holster is for a 1911, first real basket weave project, I like it. Done with the cheap Amazon basket weave tool. Have better tool on order.
  12. Nice work! Like how you came up high on the outside panel. Most are cut short and I don't like it. Especially if out on motorcycle or bike ride.
