  1. Thank you everyone for the suggestions! There are lots of things to try so fingers crossed with a couple small tweaks to the tension and a different needle or thread will do the trick. I’m very curious about this point. I have no idea what it means but I do feel like uncentered knots in the stitching is happening even when using thicker leather and the right needle/thread size.
  2. Actually I started on the other side first and it goes from looking bad to good and bad to good. The light colored leather has three layers, then two layers on the black and the the lighter black is a single layer and that definitely looks the worst.
  3. Hi All, I am trying to use the cobra class 26 to make small vegetable tanned leather wallets. But for some reason I can’t get the tension right and the bottom of the wallet looks terrible. Some spots look amazing and others look terrible. My leather is 1.2-3.6 ounces total depending on how many layers are in the wallet. My needle is 18LR and my thread is 138. I know the needle is a little small for this thread size but this was happening even with a larger needle size. I also like the look of the thicker thread. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this? I’ve adjusted the tension but it didn’t solve the issue. I will add that this doesn’t happen if I use a single layer of a softer 2mm oil tanned leather. I’m starting to wonder if I bought the wrong sewing machine. Is it just too beefy? Or is it just user error? any suggestions would be appreciated!
  4. Hi Everyone, not long ago I got a sample of Alan Sully goat leather, one in 3 ounce and one and 2 1/2 ounce. I was thinking I’d like to make a medium sized bag with these using reinforcement and was thinking of using Salpa. I noticed that Salpa comes in several different thicknesses including 0.5, 0.6, 0.8 mm. Does anybody have any suggestions on what thickness to use? I was thinking of getting some 0.6 mm but I wasn’t sure if this would provide enough rigidity to the bag. I hesitate with 0.8 because I don’t want it to be really thick in the end. If anybody has any suggestions and experience working with these products I would love to hear your feedback. Thank you!
  5. Thank you all for these suggestions! The motor pulley isn't touching the cover. I will do as suggested as try taking it off the belt from the speed reducer and try to isolate where the noise is coming from.
  6. Hi, I am hoping someone can help me identify an issue with my new cobra class 26 sewing machine. I just received it on Monday and assembled it yesterday, which seemed rather straightforward. I just got the machine turned on and running this morning and am concerned about this loud sound the machine is making while in use. It seems to be coming from under the machine. I reached out to leather machine co. but am awaiting a response. I was hoping someone in the meantime could offer any insight. Please check out the videos. Thank you! IMG_3123 (4).mov
