I recently picked up a JUKI DDL 5550-06 and it’s making a beeping or high pitched noise whenever the foot pedal is pressed. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this. Video of the noise can be heard on this post

Hello fellow leather workers - I recently purchased a techies 4800 pro, and I'm having a lot of difficulty on removing some of the tooling marks in the leather along the stitches. I have been wanting to get better with the machine for sewing basics (back-stitching, straight lines, curves, etc); however, I'm very confused on how I can minimize these marks. On the top side, I'm getting marks from the walking foot - which at this point I've accepted. I'm not sure how I could do anything further - Techsew support had me remove the walking foot rod and spring that kept tension which has had some undesirable effects, but I digress. On the bottom side, I'm getting a lot of bulge on the leather around the needle pushing through. I was told to try a smaller needle, so I've used the smallest needle for my current thread (size 20 135x16 Schmetz Diamond Tip). I was using a size 24, and the bulge isn't that much smaller in my opinion. I'm also getting marks from what I assume is the bottom walking foot, the lines are straight and seem to be part of the rectangular piece. I've sanded that piece along the edges to try bring down some of the scratches but I'm still getting this. Couple of questions, first one being a reality check. Am I having unfair expectations of my machine to leave less marks? If not: How can I remove some of these tooling marks on the bottom side? How can I minimize the bulge around the needle holes/stitch lines? Is it possible to bring down more of the tooling marks on the top side? I'm an open book and just want to become much better with this machine. I've ran back to techsew support but I can't seem to get anything further after a fair amount of back and forth on this. As with the internet, if I'm being unfair in my expectations then I'm sure I'll be told, but I welcome that. On the flip side, I look at other machine stitched leather work around my area, and I feel there is room for improvement. Leather is harness from W&C, 8oz. I've used pull-up 4oz leather with similar effect. Harness does mark much easier so I certainly acknowledge that part of all of this. Okay, I'll stop writing. Please share some knowledge and guidance!

Hello, I recently bought a Necchi 910-159 sewing machine (should be a pfaff 191 copy), and for some reason sometimes when i start sewing, slowly pressing the pedal, it doesn't start, and you can hear the motor becoming louder and louder, almost as if it's too hard for it to go through the leather. But the thing is that the needle hasn't even moved from the top position, so it's not because of that... I'll post two videos, one in which the sewing machine works normally, and another one in which it gets stuck. After hearing the motor becoming louder it suddenly starts sewing at full speed, which is the problem i want to solve.. NO PROBLEM: https://imgur.com/a/0YczOWe PROBLEM: https://imgur.com/a/RJD4sCs I've analized the sewing machine in the past few hours and i think i might have found what causes the problem. I first noticed that it was not a motor problem: the increasing sound is caused by the bobbin being jammed by the thread. Now, at first i thought it was the bobbin thread, being not properly winded or something along those lines. However after a few tests and rewindings i started noticing that it probably was the upper thread.. I then used two threads of different colors, and as i assumed, it was the upper thread which for some reason winds around the bobbin case, causing this jamming which causes that sound by the motor, since it can't freely move the lower thread. The super fast sewing right after that happens because, i assume, the motor is finally able to break the jammed thread and sews at full speed... So now i'm pretty sure this is the explanation, however i have no idea how to solve this upper thread jamming around the bobbin case. here is a video of the upper thread getting stuck: https://imgur.com/a/WU6zqsl

Hello, I’m new to sewing machines when it comes to leather. Has anyone taken the consew cp206rl and used a #207 thread with it successfully?

I am very new to leather working. I am starting off with making bronc halters, earrings, hat patches and similar western style accessories. I have goals to make western horse tack in the future when I have more experience. My question is what is the best sewing machine for these types of items that is simple enough for a newbie to use? I have tried reading through the forums but there’s so much information it’s overwhelming. Would it be better to hand sew them for now? I apologize if these questions have already been answered on here this is my first post and still learning how to use this site. Thanks in advance. Also I am located in the United States.

First of all I am a new member to this site so, Hi to everyone. I am new to leatherwork and I was thinking.....has anybody ever put a servo motor and speed reduction pulley system on a vintage domestic sewing machine. I obtained a 1954 Necchi Mira machine that runs like a champ, but is lacking in power that is needed. I will just be using it for maybe a couple of pieces of 4-5 oz and less. I can now work through a piece of 4-5 pull up chrome tan and apiece of 4-5 oz veg tan if I put flesh side of chrome tan to the feed dogs. Should I just save this money and apply it to a walking foot machine? ....any thoughts ,suggestions and experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks NOTE: I know this is a domestic machine but it seems to be well built and no plastic except for on the light bulb holder. It will sew through much heavier pieces but I don't want to abuse this machine. Thanks again, Mike. I posted this in how do I do that but figured it was the wrong place.

Found this clip in the oil sump of my Juki 1508NH while I was doing some maintenance. Can't really see where it goes. it is pretty light weight and about the size of a quarter. Does anyone know where it belongs on my machine? Thanks.

I'm looking to purchase a sewing machine. I've been working with leather for over 40 years. Now full time, I can't keep up with the hand sewing. I make a lot of dog collars, leads, & harnesses. Problem is which machine to purchase, that can stitch close to the edge. A lot of the collars have spots on them. I enclosed a photo so you can see what I mean. Do I need a special foot to get around the studs, & sew on the edge ? Two layers of 8/10 oz.
