I inherited a Durkopp 17-1-1 that my father used extensively but he never taught me how to start the threading process at the foot.  The machine is functional mechanically, I'm sure I have the bobbin wound properly.  I have it threaded properly from the spool to the needle.  I am not an expert obviously but I can't get the needle thread and the bobbin thread to "latch".  What is the method to get the thread to "catch" or "loop" together?  I would so love to get this machine to sew.
