   I had this wild idea of showing the rose petals curled over. I tried the deep beliver , bad mistake.

      I used a pear beliver of 2 different sizes that mane it more natural.

 Thats when   ,after painting ,I had a different problem. The two images wasnt anchored to the background.

Just floating.My sister suggested  pastel colors, So This is what i ended up with. 

connectin the butterfly with the rose would have resolved the problem in the first place. but Duhhhhhhhh.

To me it's a little better.

A clay color background with cracks would have made it look like a stepping stone would have been ideal.

As always NICELY done , I agree the second  attempt looks better  on the first design .   and I may have to borrow ( steal ) that background on the other one :thumbsup:

Go a head . It's s craftsman tool Makes good cracks and hide pattern for gators and turtles-- what we call gofers  in lutz florida/ akes good border designs also.
