My servo pulley is 2”

the jack shaft has a 5” pulley on one side

with no pulley on the other

the machine head has a 3” pulley on it

if I set the pulleys up in this order

servo2”   5” jack shaft

X size  jack shaft   To 3” head pulley

would  X pulley need to be 2”?

if the slave pulley (x) is larger than the master (5)  would that defeat the of  rpm?

With the arrangement of the set 1 pulley = 2" (servo motor) with a large pulley = 5" and set 2 pulley = 2" with the machine pulley = 3" (handwheel) then:

1. servo motor at 100 rpm the handwheel will turn at 27 rpm's

2. the center of the pulley on the servo motor to the center of the reducer pulley (2" x 5") should be 10"

3. the center of the reducer pulley (2" x 5") to the center of the 3" handwheel should be 14"

4. the reduction ratio is 1:3.75 at the handwheel

2 to 5 then 5 to 2 would negate it completely 3 to 2 would negate it somewhat.  what is your maximum intended output rpm?

I forgot to add the calculator I used for your arrangement so you can decide what arrangement would work with your setup: ( https://www.blocklayer.com/pulley-belteng )

Saves a lot of time and figuring. I came across this calculator when I had to change the pulley system on my wood furnace a few years back.

That is never good, I know first hand that birthing process. Take it easy for few days.

looks like according to the calculations

2”” then a  6”” next to an 8”” that goes to a  6”  and the machine is 3”

I think you were brewing them for a while and at least they were the smooth ones not the star shaped ones.

The main thing is how slow do you want to go and what you are going to set the rpm of the servo motor too. So you will have to play with the pulley sizes on the calculator as well as the rpm of the servo motor.
