fibersport Report post Posted June 29, 2023 Can someone explain the "P" code - "four-motion drop feed on top feed machines"? I picked up a 545 and just doing a quick comparison to my 145, the feed looks the same. Not really sure what the difference could be between a P and non-P machine. shoepatcher Report post Posted June 29, 2023 Machines without the P have skiff feed: Feed dog moves back and forth but never drops. Used on the 335-17 binding machine for symmetric feed. 4 motion drop feed is this: Feed dog comes up to meet the needle (1)and inner presser foot. (2)then move to the back, (3)drops down and then (4)comes forward before moving up again. Also called elliptic feed. glenn
fibersport Report post Posted June 29, 2023 Thank you very much, appreciate the quick reply. I'll look a little closer tonight to compare. I'm assuming that it's made that way to be gentler on the material?
shoepatcher Report post Posted July 12, 2023 Made that way so feed dog does not lose contact with the binding. glenn
