Handstitched Report post Posted October 22, 2023 I get all the good jobs. A regular client asked about repairing the backrest of a boat, OMG what a mess it was in. My first recommendation, reupholster the whole thing, but he didn't want to pay the full cost, he wanted it done on the cheap, aka ' make a silk purse from a sows ear' . Thankfully I didn't have to buy any materials, someone gave me some....ahem.... vinyl , a long time ago , so thats what I used. I closed up a few gaps, along the way. Theres a few lumps and bumps here and there, but so what, the least amount of time I spent on it the better. Its all glued on using strong contact adhesive with a vinyl retaining strip stapled at the back. I had to heat the vinyl up going around those tight corners. I thought It turned out quite good considering. O'h well, its not leather , but a job is a job HS
