Stamping dyed veg tanned leather

Recommended Posts

Hello, I was searching about leather and found this page, it looks pretty cool and I'll have to keep it in mind for future questions and ideas!  I'm rather new to leather working and am wondering if I can stamp on dyed veg tanned leather.  Trying to make guitar straps for Christmas for my brothers and if I can eliminate the dying process that would make life easier.  Thanks much!

You CAN stamp and tool it, just as other veg tan. But it will be much harder to see your tracing and guide lines.

Also , if you need to case (dampen) the leather,  the water may not soak in , depending on how it was treated or if it has a sealer on top.

Hmmm I hadn't really considered that, thank you for the heads up!
