Members wood Posted November 27, 2007 Members Report Posted November 27, 2007 Here are a couple of pics of a photo album I did for myself. As always, there are a few things I would have done different but it's good for now. Comments, critique welcome. I'm always looking for ways to improve and there seem to be several of you on here I could learn from. Thanks, Wood Quote

Thanks, Wood Well i'm not one of those but, i think it's very nice. I also think the first photo should be a photo of the photo album. Quote
TomSwede Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 That looks fantastic! I'm just curious to ask about the stiffness when it's open, do you have any type of stiffener like cardboard or plastic sewn in or is it good enough without? I made a bookcover for a friend once that looks similar in construction (probably a bit bigger though) and stuck the cardboard bookcover into the pocketlike slots that you also have. Great stuff, thanks for showing! Quote
Members wood Posted November 27, 2007 Author Members Report Posted November 27, 2007 It is actually a little too stiff right now. It needs a little more break-in time. I made it out of 8-9oz. with a 3-4oz lining so it's pretty heavy. The sleeve looking things on the inside are another strip of 8-9oz. I was thinking the extra weight on the ends like that would help keep it closed and help it lay flat when open. It will probably work alright once it's broken in. Quote
TomSwede Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 That cover I made wasn't a lot of tooling on it and that probably is the greatest factor regarding stiffness or lack of it in my case. Thanks for the info, in the end all things considered weigh in! Tommy Quote
Members rawhide1 Posted November 28, 2007 Members Report Posted November 28, 2007 Looks great!! I really like the tooling and the knife work on the inside. Thanks for sharing Mike Quote
Ambassador Beaverslayer Posted November 28, 2007 Ambassador Report Posted November 28, 2007 Looks real good Mike, the basket weave on the back is very nice. Ken Quote

Members Ross Posted November 29, 2007 Members Report Posted November 29, 2007 just curious, did you "groove" and wet form inside underneath the liner by the spine? it helps keep wrinkles from forming. your tooling looks great. i wouldn't worry too much about the weight. as you use it you will find it loosening up very nicely.
