DieselTech Report post Posted January 20 Guys & gals I'm just getting around to buying some better tools & machinery for my leather work. I'm curious how many of you own & use a creasing machine. Can any of you elaborate on what it can all be used for? Other than putting a fancy crease line on you work. Does it take a heated creasing machine to burnish chrome tan leather? I mainly work with veg tan. But I got some veg re-tan & it will not burnish. Can this machine also be used to make a creased fold in leather? I was looking at the regrad machines, but I cant see paying the $130-$150 per tip. So I was looking at the tandy pro model crease machine. Can some of you professional seasoned leather workers give me some input. Thanks any & all help will be appreciated.
mike02130 Report post Posted January 20 It's called a "filleteuse". It will put a decorative crease and is also used for smoothing edge paint. It will not burnish chrome tan leather, you'll need to use edge paint to finish the edge.It will not make a creased fold in leather. Some popular tips are, FN2 for creasing and SO5 for smoothing edge paint. I recommend Uniter's edge paint.
