Members PurpleBronc Posted July 8, 2024 Members Report Posted July 8, 2024 Does anyone know what this sewing machine is for? Like is it for sewing harness leather, sole leather, or only fabric? Also is there a manual for it? I've looked online, but can't seem to find out anything about it. There is a number on it, H 742823, and I got some photos too. Quote
CowboyBob Posted July 8, 2024 Report Posted July 8, 2024 This is a Chinese copy of a Singer 81-10 serger,3-spool auto-lube.Around 1995 here in the states YMC used to bring these in & they were not a quality machine this one might of been $95.00 cost for the head. Quote

Its purpose is to keep the cut edges from unraveling. Sergers are used to sew pockets for jackets, vests, pants, shirts, as well as to protect the inside seam edges. Every dress and alterations shop has one. I have one in my shop to make pockets and to resew the borders on embroidered patches when they are thread bare in spots. Quote
Members PurpleBronc Posted July 8, 2024 Author Members Report Posted July 8, 2024 Thanks, good to know! I was thinking it doesn't look strong enough to sew leather. Quote
