Pinto Report post Posted August 13 I just reieved a brother LS2-B837 and I am trying to get it up and running. I have 2 questions. ! am I threading the machine properly? I am asking because the thread seems to be binding in the first thread tensioner, even with it screwed all the way out. I did polish the wheels and they are nice and shiney . Here are the pics of how I think it should be threaded. Question 2 is I want to use 138 bonded nylon with a 135X17 22/140 needle. Does that make sense? I am making knife sheaths, holster and gunbelts. Thanks for any advice. Pinto

The needle size for V138 thread needs a #22 for thin items, #23 medium thickness and #24 for thick items (reference: https://www.tolindsewmach.com/thread-chart.html ) You have threaded the machine incorrectly here are a couple of pictures I grabbed off an Alexander Dyer video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ua5_zIYxNpE ) of how it should be threaded. As a note this maybe not be the right machine for knife sheaths, holster and gunbelts in particular holsters. kgg Edited August 13 by kgg
Pinto Report post Posted August 13 Thanks Kgg, I will try to rethread and see how things go. Right now I am only try to sew a single layer of buckskin just to see if I can get the to happen. So only 2-3 oz. Pinto

Pinto Report post Posted August 15 I think part of my problem is the thread. What do you guys think is better Bonded polyester or Bonded Nylon for sheaths and gunbelts? I am thinking of going with #138 with a 140/22 or 180/24 needle.

Thanks Bob, I have to get some tread and needles and tthen try to get it threaded right. I can then see what is going on. The tread that was on the machine looks to be like upolstery thread (Pretty thin). Don't want to change to much until I have what I am actually going to use. May have some more questions after that.
