the seat is black and the "red" tooling is a combination of ox blood and mahogany. i use it quite a bit when i need a deep red

seat orders are still rather slow but i am pushing and begging along with letting guys know that i am not booked up so i am starting to get some work.

i am close to investing in a sewing machine and am going to start producing some bags to take up the inbetween time.

do you put anything around the metal seat pan to prevent it from wearing a hole in the covering?

does having a tooled seat effect the comfort at all?

Hi DJc,

Trim-Lok works pretty good. It's is a PCV product for just that purpose. Trimmer's supply places will have it or something similar.

yep! trim loc or rubber edge molding. you can normally find it at an auto parts store.

padding depends on the application. i work anywhere from no padding to 2-3 inches most times.

comfort comes more from the shape of the seat and how iit fits you more than anything else. if you are recovering a seat and using the existing padding then yes, it will be a bit stiffer at least till it breaks in some

I use 1/2" to 3/4" neoprene.

There is no need to protect the leather from the edge of the seat pan.

If you are asking if you can feel the tooling on the seat....no. At least my butt isn't that sensative.

My seats have thinner padding because they are intended for "oldschool" style bikes with springs under the seat. Roger's have thicker padding because they are intended to be mounted directly on the frame usually on the "long bike" style of chopper.

I talked with Donny at Sucker Punch yesterday. He said things have been slow there too. Said it happens every year at this time. Then after Christmas things get crazy again. Same thing happens around tax time too. So keep hanging in there.

Just sod my scoot of the last 12 years, so I think I'll just go to the local shop and ask to get a shop loaner. I'll be picking your brain for sure. This is sweet!-Darrell

i wouldn't use staples on a hand tooled saddle myself.

i only use large flange pop rivets
