Adjust Needle position on Pfaff 335

Hello Everyone,

I'm new here and new to my machine. I have a pfaff 335 machine I picked up. I bought it to do hockey glove palms and a few other things. It's a 335-H3-17/18 with an "L" below that.

The machine works well, but the previous owner ground up the presser feet and throat plate. Which makes it a bit difficult to get the material to flow well. So I ordered some from aliexpress.

The presser feet were a bit tall, but I found a video on here that I think will help me adjust the height of the presser foot shaft (It's German so I'm guessing).

However, the feed dog and presser plate seem to be a bit off. I'd need to shift the needle to the right a smidge. so that it enters the hold properly. I also assume I would need to adjust the timing and rotary hook, but I know how to do that.

 

My question is, can I move the shaft left to right? And if so, how do I do that?

Moved your post to leather sewing machines.  This is where the machine guys hang out and will get better responses.

adjustment "Needle position to needle hole" is on page 8, and is one of the first when doing the timing adjustments. Everything else you need to know/follow is there too.

Pics of the head first please so I can see the feet and the cover pate set up.   If it is 335-17, that is the binder machine.  For repalming, you need  it set up to sew  on the edge of the  of the fingers.  A binder will do binding but will make sewing other parts very hard. send me a few pics please.  I can help you set it corcrrectly.  Bend doing to it a few years.  You may need the plain sewing parts.  I also repair shoepatchers.

Hi Glenn,

Thank you. I feel like we'll get to know one another over time. I'm sure we'll come across each other time and time again over the next while. I also purchased a Landis SL-71 which works, but I will definitely want to refurbish a little, a singer 29K which needs to be repaired (though I haven't examined it yet) and an adler patcher (which I haven't really looked at either) which I'm told needs work also. But that's a project for another day.

Is this the photo you need?

I also purchased some other presser feet, which I think I now know how to setup properly. I have one that I think is originally for a zipper which I feel like it might work? The original that I got with the machine was removed, but I still have it. It was filed down to remove the right side of the foot.

Thank you. My machine is quite a bit older, though my understanding is that they are fairly similar when it comes to this stuff. I will take a look and see if I can follow these instructions.

Yes as to the photo.   You can adjust the feed dog left to right to center the needle in the middle of the hole in the feed dog.  Move the cover plate and that gets you access to the feed dog screws.  Pics of the head on your machine please.  

The SL-71 was one Landis had built.  It is a clone of a 29K71.  Parts should be interchangeable.
