James 1945 Report post Posted November 9 (edited) Hello all, I’m looking at picking up a machine for pretty cheap but it’s missing a few parts that I can’t identify. I spent some time looking at the manual and pictures online, but I still can’t quite figure out what I’m looking at. Of course, the next question is how much and where could I get these parts? The seller is asking about 200 bucks for the machine, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it. I’m located in Ontario if that’s important. James 1945 Report post Posted November 9 Ok, I figured out some of the stuff. Pic #2 is missing the rod that goes down to connect to the knee lift. Done. Pic #1 is still giving me some trouble though. It appears to be part of the walking foot mechanism, but the pic attached here from the manual shows that there should be a plate coming down from the horizontal rod which attaches to the rod coming out of the body. Pic #1 shows no such bar. It looks like the rod coming out of the body attaches directly to the horizontal rod?? I can't find any LU-563 pics online with this configuration. Ideas? Appears part #d1454-055-ba0 the upper feed spring rod assembly is missing or has been modified. A quick search shows that part cost ranges from $25 to $125. Do you have anymore photo's / advert / video of the machine to see what else is missing, overall condition and what type of motor it has, clutch or servo????? kgg Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Can you think why someone would remove that part? Maybe they took it apart for some reason and then reassembled incorrectly? Beside the obvious incorrect part and setup the overall condition for that era of machine isn't to bad. That however depends on how much the seller is asking. The frame is a excellent old real steel "K" frame, the motor needs to be replaced with a servo motor for better speed control and the noise factor which will cost about $200 CAD. I would consider replacing / upgrading the table top just for looks the table top. The real tell will be when you see the machine, check for slop, missing / broken parts, condition of main drive belt (worn out / dry rot) and rust on the internal parts. James 1945 Report post Posted Wednesday at 12:49 PM Well, I bought it, $150. Turns out, the only big part missing is the connector rod for the knee lift! It looks like pic 1 was only meant to show that the BOLT was missing. All parts are present. Turns really, not much paint rubbed off, no rust. I’ll get the replacement bolt and see what happens! Got this from @KGG, including it here for completeness, thanks KGG! “The max thread size spec for this machine is V138. Remember the needle system for this machine is 135 x17 x "# size" for fabric and 135 x 16 x "# size" for leather.” I’d love to have a copy of the service manual too. I did a bit of searching, but I only found the operator’s manual. I have a lot of other things on the go, so I probably won’t have it up and running before spring. Regardless, I’d like to know what to check so that I can start sourcing needed parts.
