Members Nanamagic Posted December 12, 2024 Members Report Posted December 12, 2024 Hello, I may have an opportunity to buy a singer, 111w155 however, the owner states that at some point the machine has been dropped and they bent the pulley and he says it will require a main shaft. He states it sews well slowly but not fast… slow is fine. I’m on a very limited budget and live in such a rural area that having someone pair like that would be difficult. But I am mechanically inclined. What do I need to watch for if I go look at the machine and that type of repair something that could be done at home? He claims to be currently using the machine. thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer!! Quote

Members sinneD Posted December 13, 2024 Members Report Posted December 13, 2024 (edited) bent shafts can be straigthened. how mechancically inclined are you? what kind of tools might you have access to? lathe? mill? precision measuring tools? how high is your patience level? i would verify that its the shaft and not the pulley that is actually bent. you will likely need to remove the shaft from the machine- do you think you can do it? try this search term in google search field straightening bent shaft site: leatherworker.net youtube.com Edited December 13, 2024 by sinneD Quote
