wolvenstien Report post Posted December 22, 2007 Arley, Dont look at this forum like some out there where the newbie is treated bad. That just does not happen here. Several people have looked at this thread, but no one had replied because those of us who have, have not had anything constructive to post. I know nothing about braiding. But, there are several people here that do, and I am sure that once they read this thread, they will happily post and try as best as they can to help you out. There is no such thing as a stupid question on this board. And even if the question has already been asked 50 times, it will eventually get answered with more than a customary "Use the Search Button" reply you might be used to getting on other forums. Someone replying might just give you a link to another thread where the question was answered, but they wont be mean to you for asking a question that has already been asked. This site has people from all around the world; literally. And people on this site cover almost every aspect of leather there is. Just be patient, If you intend to work leather, you MUST have patience. Else wise you will not be able to enjoy working leather. Be well Mike
rawhide1 Report post Posted December 22, 2007 Arley I saw your post and even though i do braid I've never made or attemted to build a bullwhip. So I'm just as lost as how to build one as you are. If I come across any info. I will let ya know don't lose heart. Mike
Beaverslayer Report post Posted December 22, 2007 Arley, I also had a look at this post, and as the others have no idea of how to make one. There is amember here "Victor" that only stops by every now and again. He is a master whip maker, and has posted a few things on them. Below is a link to a page that he posted a while back that may be a bit of help. If you want, you could most likely contact Victor through the member search, and he may be willing to help you out. Whip Link Hope this helps, and don't be discouraged, a lot of people are doing the Christmas thing, so are not spending as much time here on the forum. Johanna Report post Posted December 22, 2007 Yep, what Alex, Mike, Wolvie & Ken said. Do you have a copy of the bible of braiding, Bruce Grant's Encyclopedia of Braiding? It's available at Tandy/TLF and Amazon. Hope you have a nice holiday! Johanna
barra Report post Posted December 22, 2007 (edited) http://www.ramsskullpress.com/crafts.html Try the link above. On the left side of the screen is a link to Australian bushcrafts, leather and knotting. The book your after is Bushcraft 9 (the others are worth a look too). Also here is how International customers can order. On the right of the screen is a link to the Australian plaiters and whipmakers association. This link has info on how to get started.
