Members Cumberland Highpower Posted Saturday at 03:42 PM Members Report Posted Saturday at 03:42 PM Ok, so I am doing something I should have experimented 20 years ago when I got in the business.... I've bought a Seiko TE5 that is essentially a modern version of the Singer 17. I want to run some really thin soft leathers through it, and I have seen online that it's a common trick to superglue a thin strip of rubber over the feed dogs. Now I've never done that before, it's a new concept for me. Are there any commercially available ready made rubber bonded feed dogs for it? What about teflon presser feet? I see some around for textile machines of other makes? I've probably lost my mind buying this TE5, but I was seriously intrigued by it for some odd reason and I don't want to mess with any of my other machines, they're all set up for other things. Quote

Buy a second set of feed dogs and grind the points off if there is enough adjustment room. Some people apply a strip of tape to the underside of the material they are sewing. Make sure the tape doesn't leave a sticky residue on your leather when you pull it off. Edited Saturday at 04:49 PM by Northmount added comment Quote
