Members AaronStand Posted April 10 Members Report Posted April 10 Does anyone for the life of me know where I can buy a Winkel Angle that the belt guard attaches to? It broke during transit from bouncing and/or vibration I'm assuming. Campbell Randall was unable to source one. I know every reproduction 205 comes with one, but how do I get my hands on one? Quote
Members dikman Posted April 10 Members Report Posted April 10 Do you need the belt guard fitted? Most of us don't bother with them (my CB4500 has never been fitted). If my machines came with one I removed it as I consider them a nuisance. It looks like that's not all that was damaged, the tabletop looks a bit "bent" and the speed reducer appears to have ripped off. It's never a good idea to ship a heavy head unit mounted to the table without a lot of extra bracing underneath. Quote
Members AaronStand Posted April 10 Author Members Report Posted April 10 (edited) Oh yea it obliterated it. For whatever reason, during Adlers 205 white run, Weaver installed them on particle board. Both those boards are particle and they just fell apart due to vibration. Machine was secured, but when you put something on cheap board like that, well you're asking for it. Bought the setup just for the machine, it's going on a new stand, new boards, etc. But yea I really wanted to keep the head setup as factory as possible as it has very few hours on it. Maybe someone who's not running a guard will hook me up? $$$ of course. Edited April 10 by AaronStand Quote

Members Tigweldor Posted Saturday at 02:07 PM Members Report Posted Saturday at 02:07 PM The hose clamps to secure pedal position on their shaft look pretty chinsy. I´ld replace them with the same kind of collars that are at each end of the shaft. Is the small pedal for foot lift or for reverse ? I still have a pneumatic foot lift for an Adler 167 that will fit the 205 with very minor mods - if you want. Provides instant and effortless foot lift to the max - in a split second. I wouldn't bother with the belt cover, I find it harder to grip the handwheel and like @dikman said I never install them for that reason. If you really want / need one find someone with a 3D printer and have them print one. I would suggest: i) getting some 1 1/2" plywood, maybe difficult / expensive to get or two pieces of 3/4" plywood and gluing them together. Then gluing a nice laminate to the top of the plywood. ii) dump the clutch style servo motor for either a brushed or brushless servo motor. It will improve your sewing experience particularly with that 3:1 speed reducer you have. kgg Quote

Members AaronStand Posted Saturday at 11:47 PM Author Members Report Posted Saturday at 11:47 PM Appreciate the feedback, but I think my point may have been missed. Again, I only made this purchase for the machine head. I understand the difference between quality board and non-quality board, hence why I'm trashing Weaver for ever mounting anything on a particle board. New stand, new servo, new top, new reducer, new attachments all done. I was simply asking where I may source a Winkel Angle. Quote
