I couldnt find the brackets I needed so he sent me the old $20 dollar windshield bag he had on his bike.... I canibalized it and put this bag together.... Tell me what you all would charge for this if you made it for a customer... I do not have any idea what a fair market price would be. Am just curious about that back outside piece of that bracket, if it is to be attached to the windshield with a bolt & nut then could it be substitued with a pc of leather? B. and the last one...... Roger Report post Posted March 6, 2007 (edited) at least $100 for that bag. i charge too little for mine and i don't do all that lacing. i double loop stitch the gussets on and that's it. i charge $80 plus shipping. the only thing i would do differently is, use double cap rivets since they will be seen when the bag is open. i also only use solid brass or nicle/chrome plated brass so there are no rust problems Nice looking bag! They are (to my knowlege) Nickle plated gilt (whatever gilt is). You suspect they will rust? I wanted to go cheap as I could on that bag since i only charged the guy $50 plus shipping.... he did send me his old bag to take the brackets out of... LOL.... you think if I used the same combonation of big cap and small stud of the 1379-12 / 1383-12 that it would look better from the underside and the rivets would not rust? Those are quite a bit more in cost.. almost three times as much for the same quantity as the single caps.... but not made from GILT (ok, i think I discovered what gilt is... it is the yellowish finish... over whatever metal used... the "Steel Double Cap Rivets" come in Gilt, Nickel and Black.... When you put "Studs" on a bag, what exactly do you use? I used the cap rivets for two reasons, they looked ok in the size and amount I wanted to add to the front of the bag, and they were there to hold the fringe onto the flap... I did buy a 30 pack bag of "Round Spots" tandy number: 1330. But i didnt like the idea of the two prongs coming through the leather to the inside.... and how would I attach the fringe... I thought about attaching the fringe to the lower lip of the opening with the lace... but that would not be right if all the other bage I check out in the motorcycle stores... the lace on these bags was attached to the "lid"... and I had no clue nor want to try to attach it to the lid with the lace in the direction the fringe would hang... so the only other option I had was to use the rivits to attach the fringe to the lid.... esantoro, I would not be about to give you any info on where to get the brackets, inside or out... I could not find any... I would like to but I cant... I do have some detailed pictures of the brackets with a ruler to give measurments and what not... The particular bracket in the bag is flexible so that the bag can contour to the inside curve of the windshield. I have another order to another guy who wants almost the very same look on a fork bag.... anything you suggest I change other than the rivets to double cap nickel plated brass? My guess for the brackets is spring steel, but I'm not sure. Strap steel may also be what is used for such a bracket, but again I cannot be sure. I'm also tring to lookfor good material for a metal support for a handle on soft briefcases. Would you want to use aluminum? I'mnot sure if it's a good idea but I know of a good supplier if you want to by six or more six-foot length pieces, otherwise just try Home Depot and Lowes.
