Members ChristopherC Posted June 15 Members Report Posted June 15 Hello folks, amateur sewing machine operator here I believe the Adler 205 I picked up has the harness presser foot (inner and outer). The inner foot has a groove fin on the bottom that leaves unsightly marks on the lighter leather projects I have been sewing. Seems great on the heavy belts I sew with 346 poly thread, but lighter wallets with 135 poly no so much. is there a member advertiser here on this site that carry’s presser feet for this machine I can purchase. I’m having a hard time finding info online to point me in the right direction. i found a page on a Cowboy site that lists different feet, but I can’t find where I would order? See 2nd pic thank you Quote
Members dikman Posted June 15 Members Report Posted June 15 I can't help with sourcing parts but I'm curious why the foot has a "fin" in the middle. If it was mine I would grind it off as I can't see any practical purpose for it. Quote Machines wot I have - Singer 51W59; Singer 331K4; Seiko STH-8BLD; Pfaff 335; CB4500. Chinese shoe patcher; Singer 201K (old hand crank)

I see it labeled as a harness presser foot. I notice on thicker projects like a gun belt where I use heavier a heavy needle and thread, and a wider stitch length, it seems to “set” the stitch into a groove. Quote

Members dikman Posted June 16 Members Report Posted June 16 Ahh, that makes sense, although I've never come across it before. I can see why it's problematic on thin leather with finer thread. They obviously expect the machine to be only used with heavy stuff. Quote Machines wot I have - Singer 51W59; Singer 331K4; Seiko STH-8BLD; Pfaff 335; CB4500. I don’t and never have stitched up harnesses, but It seems this machine was set up to do heavy work. It had a 250 needle and 446 thread on it when I bought it I’m exploring what the machine can now do on the lighter side with a 120 needle and 135 thread. Quote
Members ChristopherC Posted June 17 Author Members Report Posted June 17 (edited) I found a topic posted by user @Uwe that discussed the harness inner pressor foot for the Adler, 205–370 and the ridge on the bottom, see screen shot. It seems it is in fact for “setting” the previously made stitch, by pushing it into the leather. My discovery has been it is not useful on light leather as it leaves unsightly marks. ordered some new presser feet from HPPrecision. Edited June 17 by ChristopherC Quote
