DnD related question

A bit of an unconventional topic for a forum like this, I'm just not sure whom else to ask than a bunch of leatherworkers.

Preface:
In DND, spellcasters (Wizards, Sorcerors, and Warlocks) use an Arcane Focus. An Arcane Focus is a special item to channel their magic, replacing the need for certain material components when casting spells. Spellbooks, hold spells to later access and utilize. Normally they are leather bound books of pages. Some spellbooks could use metal sheets in which spells are etched with acid. My character's "spellbook" was a staff with leather straps attached to a staff. Braided leather cord, leather straps with increasing length and width with spells engraved into them. That staff later replaced with a Scimitar when taking the Bladesinging subclass.

Question: What would you use to gather the bundle of leather straps and braided cord? That could also be attached to the ring pommel of a scimitar?

Let's move this to Off Topic. I'd use a firearm to kill a cow, skin it and tan the hide, then cut the strips I need.

I googled the rules for "arcane focus" in an official-looking website, and this might help:

This was my concern, that this is going to devolve into a string of DND links.

If the members want to have this conversation, no problem with me. But we have enough trouble with the Minecraft spamers. No need to add DND to the list.

I've never played RP games, though being a fan of fantasy literature, I know a bit about them. 

You are definitely the first person to ask a question like this on these boards though I do remember threads about people making leather dice cups for playing these games!

Truthfully, all i know about DnD is what I've learned from watching Big Bang Theory lol.

Hmm, if your character needs to be able to use the scimitar, then tying a lot of leather (braided and strips) to the pommel will just get in the way.
Could the character make a cover for the sheath that is made from the leather and braids? That would be how I would do it in real life. 

If it has to be tied to the pommel ring, then I would use silver thread or gold thread or something valuable that I could later break a piece of to use for payment (I have never played DND, so I don't know if you need some sort of valuables to pay for stuff in the game)
