Members rawhider Posted December 27, 2007 Members Report Posted December 27, 2007 a set of yak hair reins that finished a couple days ago. the tassles are from the owners horse, and it's my first real attempt at horse hair braiding. i usually braid a pineapple knot at the end, but i thought i'd try something different. i think it turned out okay what about you folks? Members Opagon Posted December 27, 2007 Members Report Posted December 27, 2007 For a first attempt, I think they turned out great. For critique, I would talk to Horsehair and find out how to keep the fly aways down to a minimum and get a more finished look on the knots. Heather Quote

Members TwoCrow Posted December 27, 2007 Members Report Posted December 27, 2007 Is that a three part Diamond Knots? Looks sharp Quote
HorsehairBraider Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 Nice! That knot is called either a "terminal turk's head" or a "footrope knot" depending who you ask. When I do mine, I first coat the foundation, then tie a covering knot over the top. That's how I get the nice smooth finish. But the look you have here is great. I certainly would not hesitate to use these reins. When I read the thread title, I imagined all the non-fiber people thinking this was made of yak vomit. Made me smile... Quote
