Is markdown or html or some other markup supported in these textarea boxes?

I typically store my notes in markdown on my local machine, make edits there, and then copy/paste into the textarea to publish. Is there a way to have headers from my markdown file show up as Bold in the textarea, without needing to manually select with mouse? Any suggestions welcome.

Top left corner, click "Source" and paste away.  I think that's what your asking for.

Wouldn't your BOLD tags be in whatever you typed up?

Top left corner in the box you're typing your reply into. I assumed you were typing up your reply in notepad or something and inserting your tags for bold, italics, header, etc and wanted to paste raw HTML.

Hmmmm I don't have that option. Is there any way I could get elevated user status in order to get the "source" button.

Maybe there's a setting deep in your settings to choose a different editor. I'm out of ideas ...

A title!

Titles are good!
What does it show in the "Source" tab when you have a title?

Just what you'd expect, a paragraph with the heading tags I copied and another paragraph of me blathering about the tags.

It might have to do with post count. Maybe the software doesn't let s user enter raw HTML until a certain threshold. I wonder if @Johanna knows off the top of her head?

EDIT:I went through and deleted most of that back and forth, it was just clutter. I left enough that Johanna can see what we're talking about. It's ok here in Feedback and Suggestions.

I have the "source" button. Checking to see if this is a browser or software issue. I see the source button on my phone and using Chrome.

If you are using CKEditor, I see this pull request which alludes to a checkbox that allows non-admins to view the source button:

It seems that everyone but "members" has the source button. It looks like I need to do some tweaking. In the admin CP there are ways to customize the toolbars, but no source button to add. Somehow it must have remained in the legacy versions? I'll look into it more tonight.
