Spectacle case

I had some horween essex in parisian blue that's been lounging in my shop for ages. So I made a glasses case.  It was fun, im not 100% sure i care for this pattern but it still came out nice

Why didn't you just make a pouch type holder with a belt loop ??????

This was more fun. It has a magnetic closure and wouldn't be suitable for a belt, plus the leather is a little on the softer side. Ive also never seen anyone with an eyeglasses case on their belt. If we're to do a foldover pouch style. I'd add a clip to clip to a pocket

Plenty of people who actually do not carry everything but the kitchen sink on their belts, you know. 🙂

It is actually a popular glasses case pattern, isn't it? Simple and elegant.   😀

Had to ask, used to get a lawyer that stashed his glasses in a long pouch style and he would destroy his eyeglass case just by hanging them on his belt with an 18 inch tether, which got caught on everything! Chairs, stools, turnbuckle doors, car doors and trunks, and his easy chair.

I feel ya, doesnt seem like a good system there. A belt loop could be ok, but not with this particular type of closure. Maybe with a sam brown stud or something. As you mentioned, for that type of carry your idea would be viable. This just isnt for that. It's meant to keep in a bag or the car or something. I do want to make foldover pouch style too at some point

 

@SUP it is a classic pattern. Nothing wrong with it. I think id like it better stitching the corners down flat instead of rolling them inwards. Just quicker to make that way. And maybe some hidden magnets instead of this type of magnet closure

That will polish the pattern up very well. But it will get tossed around a bit in bags and in cars and drawers. So this might be sturdier.

That's possible, ideally I'd have some firmer 4 oz to make it from. That would hold up real well. I just used the essex because I had it. Idk like to draw up a tooling pattern and tool one one day

I made one of these when I first started leatherwork 2 1/2 years ago. Used scrap embossed leather because it was firm enough. Just rivets, no stitching, one of the reasons why I made it!  Still in use today and family swears by it. Got the pattern from Etsy. I was an absolute newbie, so needed a pattern then. The wrapping lace is also scrap but soft upholstery leather. It is supposed to have a stiff tip to insert into the cross piece after wrapping around the case but never got around to it. It stays in place tucked in and family says that that is easier. Even for a newbie, it took all of half an hour to make it.

Incidentally, nice to hear someone else call it a spectacles case. Everyone here insists it is an eyeglasses case. Eye glasses, for some reason, makes me think of monocles and lorgnettes and pince nez. 😄
