Making holster for 1851 Navy with long front sight

Hey all,

I'm hoping to make a holster for my 1851 Navy replica in the next week or so. It has a long front sight, ~1/4". Are there any considerations I need to take in making a holster for this gun, so the sight doesn't get damaged, or caught when I'm drawing the gun?

I suspect the creative minds here week have a better solution but my gut instinct was could the sight channel be lined with something non-snagging like PTFE?

use a thin piece of wood or something to tape from the front sight when wet forming your holster to the back sight or your holster will develop a hump, and your front sight will drag on the holster. Post pics

I figured it might be something like that, thank you for your insight! That little extra space wouldn't cause the gun to be too loose after it dries, would it?
