Technique and leather for rigid shape?

Hey everyone!

I am starting a new dufflebag project and wondering what kind of leather and technique would be best to realise the shape i want. Is wet forming the best technique to use to get the exact rigid shape shown here? Or should i simply incorporate metal wiring in the seams to get the shape? Also, I do like the uniformity of chrome tanned leather but reading that vegtan seems better for wet forming. Would love some advice on this project before buying everything.
