Use the search function; there are several threads that may help you.

Worked in a prison for 30 years if I aint shiny every time I comment its no big deal, I just don't wave pompoms.

When you say "saddle purse" what exactly are you looking for? A purse or a saddle bag? a purse that looks like a saddle or a purse made in the style of saddle bags?

If you have a picture of what you want people can help you better. Doing a web search of "the vintage saddle purse pattern" brings a lot of different results.

its a western purse made to look like a saddle. Very popular back in the day. Tandy sold a pattern kit at one time.

I used to  sell heaps of those on my stall, in 3 different sizes, they were very popular . That and many other  'western themed 'products . I won't name the company that I bought from, but it was in Pennsylvania .

I even bought one for my mother .

But economics  have changed  and I no longer buy them.

Springfield Leather Co has a free template for a mini-saddlebag-type purse. I’ve recently made a couple bags from the template, and personally, I think it’s a cool design.
It is reminiscent of motorcycle saddlebags versus horseback, but check it out, maybe it’s up your alley…

Hope there’s no copyright issues here, but it is free…

I haven’t seen a bag like that before. Very cool! Maybe Tandy’s mini saddle template could be incorporated? (I have no clue about the size of the finished product)

Those were one of the biggest sellers for the inmates in the state prison here back in the day. Folks would stop in to buy them as they traveled through town. Later on, a building was made available outside the prison for hobby work sales. In the late 80s and early 90's I used to see the vendors from Jackson Hole come down and buy literally every piece of leather, horse hair, buckles, jewelry, artwork, and many other items as well, for resale to the tourists. As the hobby room space was limited, only a few guys could get really big and would employ other inmates. One fellow made over 50k a year with his leather hobby business and sent it all to his wife and kids while he was in the joint. They did away with all of that after an officer was murdered, a new prison was built, and now there is no hobby work anymore.
