Members gnwy Posted March 1, 2008 Members Report Posted March 1, 2008 Its been a while since Ive done any leather work at all, but I just recently built a couple of holsters for my brother. Now Dad wants a couple of pistol rugs made, and I have no idea what I'll need or how to put one together. Anyone know where to get a pattern and/or instructions for making them. Or any books that I should buy that would point me in the right direction. Any help would be greatly apprecited. Thanks, Greg Quote
Members gunfighter48 Posted March 1, 2008 Members Report Posted March 1, 2008 Go to your nearest gun store/outdoor sporting goods store and get one of the cheap fabric gun rugs. You can usually get one for $5 - $8. That will give you not only the size but padding info and zipper size. John Quote
Members K-Man Posted April 13, 2008 Members Report Posted April 13, 2008 That's what I did - took an existing, inexpensive one and disassembled it. We then modified the size and shape a bit to better suit our needs and make the actual assembly of it easier. We do two different sizes - medium and large. We also do two basic types - tooled veg tan leather and genuine exotic skins. Here's a pic of two exotic skin type: That's elephant trunk on the left and elephant body on the right. You can use just about any type material you may want. Quote
