ABC3 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 I know you should check the bobbin before sewing a new project (belt in this case) but I did not. Half way through the project my bobbin ran our of thread. Nothing but holes for several inches. How do you salvage the belt. Can you load the bobbin & over-lap the stitches and continue down the groove ? Please don't tell me you have to pull out the stitches & start all over.....
Kevin Report post Posted February 23, 2009 It just depends on how particular you are. Sounds to me like you've already decided what you need to do. Sorry, Kevin
ABC3 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 Kevin, not at all sure of what to do. That's why I ask the question. Pulling out thread can be a pain but don't know what it would look like if you stitched over a couple of threads to continue. Maybe like "back stitching". Like I said I'm new to all of this and looking for some direction.
hidepounder Report post Posted February 23, 2009 Tom, You're not the first one to do that! It's like Kevin said, though, how particular are you? You could overlap a stitch or two and continue...the overlap will show if you look for it...especially with heavier thread. You could start in your last hole and keep on going...that will look better on top but will show on the bottom. It could also come undone on the bottom pretty easily. Or, pull the stitches, maybe back to the tip if you've already started down the other side, and re-sew through the same holes. That's what I do when I screw up....I'm getting pretty good at it! Good Luck! Bob
Luke Hatley Report post Posted February 23, 2009 HOBBY TOM.... re- load the bobbin, back stich , and hope your needle hits all the holes you missed and just remember "always check your bobbin''.
ABC3 Report post Posted February 23, 2009 Damn, this hobby doesn't give you much room for mistakes. Kinda like reloading.. Thanks for the come-backs...
TwinOaks Report post Posted February 23, 2009 Tom, I hate to say it, but I don't know of any sewing machines with a "Low Bobbin Warning System".
Art Report post Posted February 23, 2009 I've seen ones that stop when the bobbin runs out. Never seen a leather machine rigged that way, but for the right price.... Art Tom, I hate to say it, but I don't know of any sewing machines with a "Low Bobbin Warning System".
