Members rgerbitz Posted February 28, 2009 Members Report Posted February 28, 2009 Here are a few orders that I have recently finished up. Still have alot of room for improvement, but things are looking a little better. What do you think? Rob Quote
Members rawhider Posted February 28, 2009 Members Report Posted February 28, 2009 Looks good to me. Those bit hobbles are nice, particularly the darker one. Quote
Members entiendo Posted February 28, 2009 Members Report Posted February 28, 2009 D'oh, I thought they were chin straps! I think your braiding is lovely. What's the core on that bosal? it looks a tad narrow. Quote
Members rawhide1 Posted February 28, 2009 Members Report Posted February 28, 2009 Rob Nice looking work!! The bit hobbles look really nice. How did ya get the dark grey color. I really like the colors in the bosal. Although the heelknot looks alittle big compared to the rest of the bosal IMO. Overall very nice looking work. Mike Quote
Members entiendo Posted February 28, 2009 Members Report Posted February 28, 2009 Oh...bit hobbles...You cowboys.....I just don't know sometimes... Quote
Members rawhide1 Posted February 28, 2009 Members Report Posted February 28, 2009 Rob I forgot to ask. How did ya secure the hair on the one bit hobble(curb strap). Thanks in advance Mike Quote
Members rgerbitz Posted March 1, 2009 Author Members Report Posted March 1, 2009 Thanks for the kind words. The cores on the bosal is a twisted rawhide core braided over twice to get the desired diameter. And that dark gray color is from my first attempt at using sodium sulfide, the whole hide is this bluish gray color. I had been using it for cores till someone saw it and order this bit hobble and a bosal. There's no tell'in what some folks will like. Rob Quote
Members Opagon Posted March 1, 2009 Members Report Posted March 1, 2009 Looking good Rob! Every time you post I see improvement, absolutely wonderful! Keep Braiding. Heather Quote
Members rgerbitz Posted March 1, 2009 Author Members Report Posted March 1, 2009 Rawhide 1 Forgot to respond the last time, sorry. They are 8 plait braids so I used 4 strings and braided around the locks of hair which where about 6 inches long. This makes for about 3 inches of hair when finished and will be very difficult pull out. Clear as mud? Great! If this doesn't make sense ask again and I will try again. Thank you Opagan!
