Des804 Report post Posted March 8, 2009 How do I smooth the flesh side or is that even possible. I'm making a collar and wanted to make the area that goes around her neck smooth without having to rely on putting a liner in.
badger Report post Posted March 8, 2009 Des, Gum Tragacanth. I apply with a finger and smooth it, always in the same direction. When dry you can burnish with a piece of rag. Alternatively, acrylic Resolene dabbed on with a damp sponge and allowed to air dry. Cheers, Karl
AgronZoti Report post Posted March 8, 2009 You can use wax, rub some in and then work it in with a cloth in one direction… kind of like burnishing an edge.

PutnamLeather Report post Posted March 10, 2012 What works best for me is to sand it as smooth as possible, wet the leather and rub saddle soap into it. After it drys it can still be dyed and sealed with super shene.
