wildrose Report post Posted March 26, 2009 Denise, I could go on forever about pet names: we had alot of mousers on our farm over the years. I'll stick with 2: Marshmallow (thanks to my sister naming her) was a black and white female; and Patches (yet another case of "didn't really want to name her that, but it stuck"), a calico. TroyWest Report post Posted March 26, 2009 I had a good friend that had a 2 legged dog. Really. One leg was caught in a trap and the other was run over by a car. He had the front leg still attached but it was useless so he carried it folded up against his body. So he had a right front leg and a right rear leg. I never could remember his real name so I called him Bipod. He could actually run as fast as the other dogs but when he tried to rear up on you he would fall over. He sat down to eat. We laughed and laughed at that dog and he was a great pet with a great attitude in spite of his adversities.

wildrose Report post Posted March 26, 2009 Nah, Ray, just got sidetracked. Let's see, other than Big Blue/Deerslayer, I do have another "named" car: my 1966 Ford Mustang is named Gloria. My mom and dad gave me the car for my 35 b'day. Dad had begged his neighbor for a while to sell it to him, 'cuz the license plate said "Holly". It being my dream car, how perfect was that? Dad told the guy it was meant for me and I'd take good care of it. (Which I've done) Of course the neighbor kept the plates, but the floormats say "Holly" on the driver's side and "Gloria" on the passenger's. Gloria was the name of a dear friend of mine that I lost to cancer a few years back. She didn't drive much, but was always teasing me about my driving when she rode around with me. I know she's smiling down from Heaven and her "spirit" rides with me, ribbing me about every too fast turn or stop or swerve I make.
tonyc1 Report post Posted March 26, 2009 While we're talking about pets, we have a Pug, it's real name is Zibby and she really belongs to my daughter. We just pay for her food, vet bills and any other expenses like good parents do I guess. Well, I call her Boxhead because that's what I think her head looks like. My wife thinks I'm cruel to refer to her with that name. Tony.
barra Report post Posted March 26, 2009 A friend names all his pets Eric. Eric the dog, Eric the Cat, Eric the Budgie. I have a pet name for something both inanimate and animal but I divorced it. One of my machines goes from THE PRESCIOUS to you seahunter 1st car. Eckie because it was an EK holden (Australian GM circa 1962). Have to be careful using a name like that these days. All 7-33 stitchers are called Thumper. Barra

Denise Report post Posted March 26, 2009 Come on guys - inanimate don't mean animals! Ray, have you watched cats 23 hours out of 24? But sorry for highjacking your thread. My sister had a little red Suzuki (sp?) soft top jeep looking thing (yup, really into vehicles here...) she called Eric the Red. It was RED all right!
