$$hobby Report post Posted April 23, 2009 Hi, long time no here. ive been asked to repair some harness equipment and unfortunately its biothane. does anyone here know the tricks to sew biothane on a machine? i have to replace some 1" wide straps, like english billets, on this peice. i have some scrap that i tried to sew on and for the most part it appears okay, but it will miss/skip some stitches. hope everyone is doing good and all is well. thanks in advance. tonyc1 Report post Posted April 23, 2009 I think Biothane may be the same as PVC webbing that we use down here and I sew lots of it. I just use a metric 20 nylon thread and a #180 - #200 canvas point needle and it works just fine. Tony.
ryano Report post Posted April 23, 2009 (edited) I use 277 upper and 207 lower threads and set the upper tension pretty darn tight. I also use a round point needle size 25. My machine is also set at 5 stitches per inch. Good luck! I edited this because I put down a leather needle for some reason and use a round needle. tonyc1 Report post Posted April 23, 2009 I like to use canvas point as the leatherpoint needles sometimes cut the nylon inner webbing. I do about 8 to the inch. Tony.
$$hobby Report post Posted April 24, 2009 thank you all for your repliles. i had to take it slow(er) and tighten up the thread tensions.
