Dapping punches are generally used by silversmiths. I can't imagine a use for them in connventional leatherworking other than, like most metal stuff, you could hit them with a maul to create an impression on your leather. Deb59 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Tim, I got an inexpensive set at one time off of Ebay to try to make some custom conchos for a belt out of some coins. It worked great for that, but I have not used it since for anything else to do with Leather. - Deb
Tkleather1 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 well thanks to the greats for answering. The Feebay ad said he used them for leather work, but I couldnt figure out how either. I knew that they were for silver and metal work so I am glad to hear that I am not totally dumb and missing the boat on using these.

mendedbowl Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Hi Tim, when i buy on ebay, i like to use the "ask seller a question" button a lot. it's amazing how many people selling tools don't even know how to use what they are selling...so how could they be qualified to tell you it's in good shape? you said "The Feebay ad said he used them for leather work" so ask him how? and see if he knows his stuff. or as i suspect...he probably just has a load of those things he wants to get rid of, and is willing to say whatever it takes to make a sale. ken
