Tkleather1 Report post Posted May 7, 2009 Hey there everyone I know that this probably is going to sound stupid to alot of you but I want to share anyway. I received the set of checkered bevelers from Barry King for my birthday and I also finally bit the bullet and purchased my first side of 8/9 oz herman oak. I have to say I dont know which of the two is better, all I know is I carved my first Sheridan pattern using this combination today and I have to say that my carving and tooling has never looked so good. Now I know that I still have millions of miles to go to get even half as good as alot of you that I truly admire, (hidepounder, Bruce, Elton) just to name a few I know that there are more of you out there but those are just a few. I will share some pics once the purse is done but I just wanted to share my experiences and say to all that are on the fence about buying quality tools or leather that they are both well worth the money. thanks for reading my rambles. HARVEY Report post Posted May 7, 2009 Rant away, Tim; I dare say a lot of us are with you in your enthusiasm. It's hard to get jazzed over the new replacement tires you put on your vehicle, and nobody really cares very much anyways. But to talk about getting new custom tools, and getting quality leather . . . well hot damn, most of us here can sure appreciate that. Have at it and enjoy! This truck nut gets very excited about new tires! Tim, glad you enjoyed the new tools and leather. I'm about to order a few new tools myself. Now if I can just push the 'submit' button instead of closing the browser window "until later"
manfrommuc Report post Posted May 8, 2009 @Tim you are right!! I get my Barry King Tools a couple a weeks ago (Beveler / Undercutter / a taper head maul and a swivel knife) it is a very very big difference to my old bevelers and as a test I made a wallet for my mother in law for the first try with new tools the work is not bad.................. greetings johann
