Members Beener Posted June 12, 2009 Members Report Posted June 12, 2009 (edited) Ok, I said to myself before I started to pull apart the bobbin holder on my Singer 29K58, "What ever you do, don't drop the thread tension spring screw!!!" Funny how these things goes through your head just as the spring flips on to the floor and gets lost for ever. Can anyone lead me to the best place to get parts like this for this machine. Someone who might have things of this nature in stock. I would probably buy more than one and the springs as well. All the stuff that frequently gets lost along the way. Or should I just deal through a local Singer dealer??? Ben Edited June 12, 2009 by Beener Quote Never lived a day that I didn't learn something new. Members badger Posted June 16, 2009 Members Report Posted June 16, 2009 Try gluing a strong magnet on a broomstick and poking it around under your bench and into the corners of the room. Badger Quote
Members Beener Posted June 16, 2009 Author Members Report Posted June 16, 2009 Thanks Badger, that's the best idea I have heard yet. I am sure I have at least 2 if not 3 of them on the floor under there somewhere. Ben Quote Never lived a day that I didn't learn something new. Members celticleather Posted June 17, 2009 Members Report Posted June 17, 2009 I just bought 6 of these screws from http://www.college-sewing.co.uk. The part number is 662 Screw Singer. They also have the bobbin springs, part number 8604 BOBBIN SINGER 29K. The screws were 28p each and the springs were 40p each. I now have 6 usable bobbins - what a luxury! Members Beener Posted June 24, 2009 Author Members Report Posted June 24, 2009 Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Of course, as would be the rule, I just ordered some to replace this one and Badger's brilliant idea paid off, so now I will have spares for when my magnetic swiffer tool doesn't net any results.
