Contributing Member TwinOaks Posted July 23, 2009 Contributing Member Report Posted July 23, 2009 I think the second number is your model number. In this case, 112w115. http://parts.singerco.com/IPinstManuals/11...3_W116_W120.pdf Quote Mike DeLoach Esse Quam Videri (Be rather than Seem) "Don't learn the tricks of the trade.....Learn the trade." Cobra Steve Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Hey Josh, the machine is a 2 needle compound feed machine. It was, for a long time, the best that there was. They can still be rebuilt and last a lifetime. Hope this helps. Steve Quote Thank You Steve Tayrien Leather Machine Co., Inc. 2141 E. Members jbird Posted July 24, 2009 Author Members Report Posted July 24, 2009 That's great stuff but can it sew leather and what kind. Josh Quote Josh Dusty Chaps Leather & Seven O Saddle Shop 801-809-8456 Keep moving forward! On a horse. Hebrews 4:12 My link
CowboyBob Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 It should handle 8-10 oz thickness of leather. They are used alot for belts, dog collars & etc. Guage parts are cheap too if you want to change the distance between needles. Members jbird Posted July 24, 2009 Author Members Report Posted July 24, 2009 Can you use it with just one needle? And is this just a crazy fast machine or can the speed be controlled. Thanks Josh Quote Josh Dusty Chaps Leather & Seven O Saddle Shop 801-809-8456 Keep moving forward! On a horse. Hebrews 4:12 My link
Contributing Member TwinOaks Posted July 25, 2009 Contributing Member Report Posted July 25, 2009 Sewing speed is a direct result of the motor on the machine. You should be able to fit it with one of the DC servo motors and a reducer. If you don't want to go that far yet, you can somewhat reduce the speed by putting a smaller pulley on the motor shaft, and a larger one on the head. It works just like gear ratios in a transmission. Members jbird Posted July 26, 2009 Author Members Report Posted July 26, 2009 So the last question is, can I use just one neddle on this unit. And is a working one of these worth $290 thanks Josh Quote Josh Dusty Chaps Leather & Seven O Saddle Shop 801-809-8456 Keep moving forward! On a horse. Hebrews 4:12 My link
CowboyBob Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 yes,you can use a single needle if needed but the foot will be wide unless you buy one & grind it,is it sews ok it should be worth $290.00 If you want to slow it down.We now have a DC servo motor w/a built in reducer that mounts on the standard 3-holes as any other motor for less tha buying the two seperate & it's alot easier to install.
