Spence Report post Posted August 8, 2009 Go to the "Dyes, Antiques, etc" forum. Put in your search terms, i.e. "dyes" or "spirit dyes". I entered "spirit dyes" and came up with 3 pages of closely related posts. No search engine is perfect, but this one is about as good as they get. G'luck and have fun. TwinOaks Report post Posted August 8, 2009 (edited) Your computer is your friend. It only does what you tell it to do, and in this case, the search function is doing only what you tell it to do. Click 'search' click 'more search options' click 'advanced usage help' This will bring up a small window that explains how to use the boolean operators, such as quote tags, asterisks, and plus signs. A little practice, and you'll have it serving up exactly what you're looking for. Ya just gotta know how to ask nicely:) ...and Rayban, would dyeing spirits with spirit dye cause spirits to die? Oh, I have so much fun with spiel Czech. Edited August 8, 2009 by TwinOaks
bluebeard Report post Posted August 8, 2009 Thank you all and may the great spirit show you the way before you dye.....Or something like that..
TwinOaks Report post Posted August 8, 2009 In my case, it certainly wouldn't hurt having the Great Spirit helping me out when I'm dyeing something...
cem Report post Posted August 9, 2009 Hi bluebeard, you sent me a pm but my computer chucked a sad when I went to post it and I'm not sure if it sent the complete message. Anyhow if your also looking for suppliers of Spirit dye in Oz these places should be able to help. Birdsall Leather http://www.birdsall-leather.com.au/ (NSW) make their own I use these not enough colours for what I want though Crispin leather http://www.crispinleather.com.au/ (QLD) I think they make their own as well, Rod Stanger from Leatherwood uses these Leffler Leather http://www.leffler.com.au/ (VIC) Sells Raven Oil Toowoomba Saddlery http://www.ozsaddle.com/ (QLD) Sells Raven Oil These are the main places I know of I also at times make my own from Rit Clothes Dye and Metholated spirits (original idea from Rod Stanger mainly for making blues and purples which are difficult to get here). here are the threads to check out regarding that process. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?s...pic=3924&hl http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?s...pic=1423&hl http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?s...pic=6864&hl Hope this is of some help Cheers, Clair
2MadJacks Report post Posted August 9, 2009 When I'm doing a search that I want to use two words in such as spirit dye. I plug the words in witha positive sign before each word without any spaces for example +spirit+dye ... This may be common knowledge to most but I didn't know this until I stumbled onto it somewhere. I use to get as pissed off as you sound. Good luck James
AZ09 Report post Posted August 14, 2009 Use quotation marks with your search you will get a more specifc search than a broader search return without them. such as "Spirit Dye" Tal~
