MADMAX22 Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Well couldnt handle being without a camera so got a used canon A1000IS from BandH photo. $90 shipped. Pretty good camera for a little point and shoot. Took a couple of quick close up shots to see how they would turn out. Seemed pretty good. Used my lightbox and the supplied editing tools that came with the camera which wasnt much. Heres a few photos with the jpeg straight from the camera followed by the edited version. http://s260.photobucket.com/albums/ii33/QU...0first%20shots/ Quote

Were the darker ones done with a reduced exposure, or were you playing with the white balance? Kate Quote

I put it to the most manual setting it has, selected the macro subsetting, set the iso 200 ( I think) since in reveiws I read anything above 200 and it starts getting grainy even though it goes all the way to 1600. Took the shots. The lighter version of the two dark photos are after using the editing tool that canon supplies. Prettty much just a auto adjust and I increased a few things like contrast and such by like 2 I think. Quote

Stupid cameras and there pixels lol. Yeah ive gotta finish reshaping it a bit also. I didnt like that real strong curve on it, makes it a heck of a guy to sharpen. I only got the thing because it was on sale for $20 and I ended up having that much in store credit one day. Quote
Members dickf Posted August 14, 2009 Members Report Posted August 14, 2009 You'll enjoy the IS - it makes a world of difference when you don't have a tripod. Canon makes quality gear. Quote
